Our entry into the UK TV show Robot Wars and live events around the UK including Roaming Robots and other similar events.

Behemoth is a design evolved over nearly 10 years from series 2 of Robot Wars to this very moment.

Weighing in at just under 100Kgs, Behemoth competes in the Heavyweight class at current FRA competitions. Powered by two LEMCO LEM130 electric motors Behemoth has a top speed of around 15mph delivered by six Guitel blue rubber wheels through a series of chains and Tufftrided sprockets custom machined by Gibbs Gears in Tring. This not only provides an enoumous amount of traction but also allows Behemoth to turn on the spot for maximum manouverability. The motors are driven by a RoboteQ AX2550 speed controller and powered by SAFT prototype automotive NiMH batteries capable of delivering peak currents in excess of 200amps reliably, fight after fight. Control is through a Spektrum DX6 and BR6000 receiver.

Armour comprises a combination of Titanium, Aluminum and Lexan which also forms much of the chassis. Unlike many other robots, Behemoth uses very little welding, instead relying on bolts to hold much of the robot together. This gives a great advantage with repairs as seldom does a part need to be cut out. Where welding is needed, parts are Tig welded to ensure maximum strength and durability.

The weapon is a very powerful pneumatic lifter and axe that operate independently allowing opponents to be flipped over and bashed where they are most vunerable. The design also lends itself as a grabber allowing us to pick opponents, perhaps placing them in the pit, a corner patrol zone or even in the drop zone. The front scoop is made entirely out of Titanium, rolled and welded to provide a very strong plate that can be used for both attack and defence fending off the likes of Hypnodisc and Razer. The axe is chain driven from a small pneumatic actuator and is forged from steel by hand and case hardened to provide an extremely strong sharp edge that doesn't blunt or shatter. And when things go wrong, a pair of arms on the side of the cab section lift out with the scoop and push Behemoth back onto it's wheels.

In addition to everything else, Behemoth is fitted with two Lynteck amber strobes to warn when the robot is operating and a loud reversing buzzer you may sometimes hear when Behemoth is getting caught up in the action.

Behemoth is 630mm wide, 1000mm long and 720mm tall.
